Django: use v0.96

Oct 21st 2008

There have been some backwards-incompatible changes to Django, the web framework which Surftrackr uses, so you will need to use version 0.96 until I have had time to fix this. If you use the latest version, it won't work.

As mentioned in a previous post, Surftrackr development might continue later this year. Of course, since it's an open source product you're more than welcome to contribute your own improvements if you would like to!

In other news, I find myself using VMWare to create virtual machines for development work, and have started using these in production environments as well. To save you significant amounts of hassle setting up Surftrackr and associated software, I hope to be able to upload an 'appliance' based on Ubuntu Server 8.04.1, with all Surftrackr software fully setup. Since VMWare Server is a free download which you can run on Windows, Linux or Mac, I hope this will prove to be a popular option.
